Summer 2023 — Debut Novel Launch, The Quickening

In 2010, I began writing The Quickening, a Christian Speculative Fiction, when my mom challenged me to join her for Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month). I had heard about the November challenge on NPR a time or two and thought it a compelling and wildly crazy idea.

I parked perfection at the door and dove in – completing a very rough first draft of 50,000 words in one month. Fast forward through life to today, and after Beta readers feedback, my mom’s great edits, and a final pass through ProWriting Aid I will be submitting the novel to a formatting and cover art company to help finish. I expect to Indie-publish this summer.

In the fall of 2017 we visited St. Peter’s West Minster Abbey in London. The Pyx Chamber is one of the original rooms dating back to the 11th century where my Benedictine monks lived and worked. I could almost hear Brother John’s soft feather scratches on parchment.

If you like split timelines filled with Benedictine monks from long ago and modern day Oxford science nerds as they overcome evil, you might enjoy reading this story.
